Andy Ward is well known in Ulster sporting circles. As an up and coming young New Zealand rugby player, Andy came to Ballynahinch in 1994 to play rugby for the local club. At the end of the season Andy returned to New Zealand but missed the people and place so much he returned within the month and the rest is pretty much history.
His playing career saw him win the European Cup with Ulster, where he went on to captain the side for four years winning the Celtic Cup in 2004. He became an Irish International in 1997 winning 28 caps and touring in Australia, South Africa, Argentina and the U.S.A.
The idea of opening a gym in Ballynahinch has been in the planning for a number of years, and now Andy can bring his knowledge gained as a professional athlete, to this new venture adding a further chapter to his illustrious career in sport. |
